10 YEARS FOR MOKSHA YOGA

On June 14, Saint-Laurent Boulevard’s very own Moksha Yoga studio will be celebrating its 10th year!

That’s quite an achievement! After all, 10 years is pretty significant! Do you realize that Facebook was born 10 years ago? And that it was called The Facebook at first? And that it looked like this?

For the most part, companies expand and improve over a 10 year span. This is exactly what happened to Moksha Yoga, one o [...]

PARKLET

A parklet is an urban design relatively new to North America that allows people to reclaim public space.

Last year, the Saint-Laurent Boulevard collaborated with the Plateau Mont-Royal borough to instal the very first parklet in Canada! It was so successful that it’ll be back again this summer. Passersby can stop to enjoy the view while enjoying a snack or a meal purchased from somewhere nearby, like a smoked meat sandwich from Schwartz’s, an ice cream cone from Ripples or a chicken sandwich from Coco Rico.

The parklet has also been painted by Philippe Mastrocola to m [...]

YOGA IN THE PARK

Recharge your batteries for awhile on the Saint-Laurent Boulevard! With yoga’s rise in popularity and summer just around the corner, we suggest, for a second consecutive year, free yoga classes in the park. Every Sunday from July 6th to August 24th, between 11 AM and noon, Moksha Yoga welcomes everyone who wishes to take care of themselves to the Parc des Amériques – beginners as well as more experienced yogis.

Fun fact: Hatha yoga is a form of yoga frequently practiced in the western culture; it is, among other things, what inspired many of the practi [...]

MIX’ARTS FESTIVAL

The 2014 edition of Mix’Arts Festival from August 21st-24th will have entertainment provided by the Festival de théâtre de rue de Lachine whose spokesperson is none other than the invincible Rémi-Pierre Paquin (from the show Les Invincibles – see what we did there?).

This will be a new approach for the festival where innovative and original performers and musical groups will take over public spaces to share a unique experience with the participants. On the Saint-Laurent Boulevard, anything nonconformist is very much appreciated which is why it is a matc [...]

PUBLIC PIANO

One piano for all and all for one piano! The public pianos are coming back this summer. They will be set up throughout the city, but obviously, the one on the Saint-Laurent Boulevard will be the most interesting one of the bunch! With the support of Plateau Mont-Royal, the piano will be installed at the intersection of Saint-Laurent Boulevard and Prince-Arthur (July 9th-August 13th), then in the Parc des Amériques at the intersection of Saint-Laurent Boulevard and Rachel (August 13th-September 17th).

Musicians, beginners, and hobbyists yo [...]

MURAL FESTIVAL

For its second edition, the Mural festival will take over boulevard Saint-Laurent by producing over 20 murals, inviting over 35 local and international artists, offering public art exhibitions, live DJ sets, and tons of free activities! Saint-Laurent Boulevard will become a pedestrian haven and will be closed off to traffic from June 12th to 15th between Sherbrooke and Mont-Royal Avenue.

Mural Festival is like no other event you’ve seen before; it has had an impact on the entire city! The first edition of the festival redefined the universe of the Main; the [...]

GRAND PRIX WEEKEND ON THE SAINT-LAURENT BOULEVARD

The Saint-Laurent Boulevard is THE MOST interesting destination in the midst of Canada’s Grand Prix! The first street closing of the summer will be on June 5th-8th, taking place on the Main between Sherbrooke Street and Pine Avenue.

In order to celebrate Canada’s Grand Prix in Montreal, the Saint-Laurent Boulevard will be offering a weekend of totally unique street-art-flavored festivities and activities! Of course, there will be cars – it is the theme of the event after all! – but we are offering you something different, something you won’t be able to [...]
