Because in the summer, it’s hot in Montreal!
The Plateau Mont-Royal borough, in collaboration with the Association des designers industriels du Québec has developed the Bornéo project for this summer: fire hydrant transformed into mist blowers! You’ve probably heard of it, as their removal got everyone talking. Well, they’re back!
The idea is relatively simple: transform the fire hydrants into public fountains that passersby can activate by pressing a button.
In fact, it will be possible to drink the water, like at a fountain (the water will be tested beforehand), and to activate the mist to cool off. The mist blower will only be available during a street closure for security reasons.
As of August 11th, there will be a Bornéo at the intersection of St-Laurent Boulevard and Prince-Arthur. Kids (and adults too, be honest!) can enjoy the mist during the Mix’Arts Festival from August 21st to the 24th, since the Main will be closed to traffic!
