This shop has existed for over ten years and never slows down. This bar, café and experimental lab where artists come to work and write, is the perfect place to run into familiar faces. The menu is pretty simple, but always delicious and eccentric. Then in the evening, come listen to DJs spin in a very relaxed setting.

The neighborhood pet shop. The couple that owns the store, Mia & Malcom, are true animal lovers. I bought my first chihuahua, Lex, in 2004 and my second, Nova, in 2007. They are both doing wonderfully and I bring them back regularly to TOO ZOO for grooming and nail clipping. They, of course, have pet food, toys and all the trendiest outfits for your dogs. (!!) Finally, they put a lot of thought into their storefront displays which they change up depending on the time of the year and on the holidays.

Because we are in the heart of the Portuguese neighborhood, we mustn’t forget to mention this jewel of a restaurant run by renowned chef Helena Loureiro where she features her country’s specialties. I always enjoy the fish or the seafood which are cooked to perfection. The atmosphere is friendly and welcoming. I like to end my meal with natas, the egg tart pastries, and why not top it off with a glass of white port.
