As we write these words, we hear the most Quebecer of all roars coming from all directions and at the same in Montreal… Something like “Go Habs go, tabarnaque!” (not diving head first into stereotypes, of course).
It’s time for the 2015 edition of Poutine Week!!!
Although 7 days (from February 1st to the 7th) may be little time to try approximately 40 different poutines across the city, we have a simple suggestion for you: focus on the Main!
Here’s the list of our restaurants who wish to earn the award of the 2015 Best Poutine in town:
-
01
FRITE ALORS!
3497 SAINT-LAURENT MONTRÉAL QUÉBEC H2X 2T6Already an expert in everything relating to fries (their poutine being quite at the top of the list), Frite Alors! chose to offer us a taco theme! Minced meat, guacamole, sour cream and tortillas…seems deliciously excessive! -
02
MCKIBBIN'S IRISH PUB
3515 SAINT-LAURENT MONTRÉAL QUÉBEC H2X 2T6This famous Irish pub offers the ‘Chilipoutine’! More precisely, it’s a beer-braised beef rib chilli with cream of avocado and tortillas, seasoned with picco de gallo (Mexican blend of diced tomatoes, onions and Jalapeño peppers). Not only it’ll be stuffing, it could be spicy! (We don’t have a picture of this one. And it makes us sad… If you try it, send us one!) -
03
SUWU
G-04-3581 SAINT-LAURENT MONTRÉAL QUÉBEC H2X 2T7To the traditional ingredients are added smoked chicken, stuffing, green onions and cranberries – for a little #ThanksgivingThrowback feeling? You decide! Seems like a perfect size to share (with the chicken, the stuffing and all), but you are the master of your lives! -
04
LA CABANE DU PORTUGAL
3872 SAINT-LAURENT MONTRÉAL QUÉBEC H2W 1Y2Fries, gravy and cheese are served with alentejana pork – a mixture of pork and cockle (a mollusc that can be used to replace mussels and clams). This is particularly different from anything else you’ll try. -
05
BURGER ROYAL
3820 SAINT-LAURENT MONTRÉAL QUÉBEC H2W 1X6Well, for this one, you may want to raise that little pinky in the air while holding that fork, cause we’re getting fancy: braised oxtail and gremolata (minced parsley, garlic and lemon zest) embellish the regular ingredients. Yum!
So, instagram/tweet/post us your pictures and don’t forget to vote here: http://lapoutineweek.com/montreal/the-poutines#speakers!
