Christmas came early for retail stores in the Plateau!
The file concerning the extension of opening hours on the Plateau was already going quite well as we got closer and closer to the Holidays, but we never thought that the exemption would come before 2015.
Nonetheless, with a series of confident tweets, Mayor Denis Coderre announced on Wednesday December 17th that retails stores of the Plateau would be able to stay open until 8pm on weekends… starting Saturday the 20th!

This is a great victory for the SDBSL and its members – as well as for every other SDC in the Plateau!
The pilot project recognizes the Plateau as a tourist destination which in turn allows retail stores to stay opened later on weekends. The pilot project is in affect from December 20th 2014 to May 24th 2015. Afterwards, the benefits will be evaluated by the ministry, which will then decide to renew or modify the authorization at the same time as the one for downtown (which was granted in 2010).
