LES VEILLEURS

To insure harmony between the boulevard’s nightlife clientele and residents in the area, the SDBSL has created a team called “Les Veilleurs!”

This mediation team will be on the boulevard Fridays and Saturdays between 10pm and 4am all summer long. They work with the SPVM to help keep our neighbourhood quiet and safe for the residents and customers.

10 TIPS FOR MAKING YOUR SMARTPHONE LAST WITHOUT REPAIR

*This article was written by Kyle Khoury, owner of Rapifix.*

Admittedly, I’ve always been a tech junkie. From smartphones and tablets to laptops and desktops, if it’s confusing, got wires coming out of it and generally makes life easier for its users, I’m all for it. In fact, it’s for that exact reason that I first opened Rapifix—to help Montrealers not only enjoy their personal electronic devices more, but to show them how to get the most out of them.

But here’s the thing abou [...]

THE BOULEVARD’S HAIR SALONS ARE ON FIRE (NOT LITERALLY)!

No, the Saint-Laurent Boulevard’s hair salons did not all catch on fire at the same time. And we’re also not talking about the hairdresser with his “original” methods that you’ve probably seen around on the net last year.

We’re talking about a few articles from last week that praised the Main’s salons.

THE OPENING OF NORTH STAR

Is it another Kanye West and Kim Kardashian baby?!

No, it’s a new bar (“barcade” in fact) that just opened at 3908 Saint-Laurent! Referencing the North Star Coin Machine Company, it’s a bar where you can play pinball!

The old address of Korova did not remain closed for long. Three new owners, Adam Kiesler, Marie-Lyne Tarabulsy and Justin Evans took advantage of New Year’s Eve to test this bar/arcade concept during the soft opening.

The vintage concept is the first to see the day in Montreal. Eight pinball machines will be permanently available and you [...]

THE MAIN CONSTELLATION IS BACK

The famous “Christmas lights” (officially called The Main Constellation) have made their comeback over the boulevard, between Sherbrooke and Mont-Royal.

But there’s more…they’re here to stay! For three years, to be more precise.

They stirred up so much chatter and everyone loves them so much that we decided to install them permanently. In 3 years, the members of the SDBSL will evaluate their options. Perhaps the installation will be enhanced; perhaps it will be completely replaced.

One thing is certain: we are no longer just talking about Christmas lights. [...]

THE NEW 2015 MURALS

The 3rd edition of the MURAL Fest left the boulevard and its surroundings more beautiful than ever!

Here’s a little treat for the eyes: the new art pieces that have been paintend in 2015. And, shall you want more, be sure to go see them for real – you can plan your itinerary with this map.

ARTISTIC INSTALLATION IN VACANT WINDOWS

Tags in windows and on buildings are ugly. There aren’t nice to look at and totally useless.

They leave us feeling like…

This is why, on May 24th, the Saint-Laurent Boulevard decided to give itself a little facelift! Merchants and their employees joined residents and the TAPAJ program team to clean the sidewalks, facades, street furniture and vandalized windows.

CHANGE IN TRAFFIC DIRECTION ON THE SAINT-LAURENT BOULEVARD

The Main is officially changing its traffic direction. The north/south axis of the city directed traffic exclusively towards the north from de la Commune street until de Castelnau, but it’s now a thing from the past!

The different government bodies decided it was time to listen to the people. “Quebecers like to go down south.” said Transport Minister in charge of the Montreal region, Robert Poëti. “We decided to listen to them and to change the traffic direction on the Saint-Laurent Boulevard.”

Talk about #PowerToThePeople!
