LES VEILLEURS:
Since its creation in 2015, Les Veilleurs, supported by the Société de Développement du Boulevard Saint-Laurent, has been committed to improving the quality of life in our community by acting as a force for mediation and awareness-raising.

Thanks to their preventive and collaborative approach, Les Veilleurs have helped reduce complaints and strengthen ties between the various players in the neighborhood.

ROLE AND MISSION
Les Veilleurs team will be on the ground every week from June 6 to August 31, 2024, from Thursday to Saturday from 9pm to 4am, to ensure the peace and quiet of residents and the smooth running of night-time activities. Their presence on the ground is a valuable resource for ensuring everyone’s safety and well-being.

Les veilleurs patrol on foot to prevent incivilities and help people in distress. Their approach favors mediation and awareness-raising over repression. In terms of medical intervention, they are trained to intervene and help people with alcohol or drug intoxication, as well as treating certain physical injuries.

PATROL ZONES
Once again this year, we’re delighted to announce that Les Veilleurs are extending their field of action to include Avenues Mont-Royal (between Saint-Laurent Boulevard and Brebeuf street) and Duluth, in addition to Boulevard Saint-Laurent. This expansion will give us greater coverage of areas with high night-time traffic, while guaranteeing safety and respect for terrace closing times.

Thanks to the financial support of the City of Montreal, SDAMR and ACAD, Les Veilleurs will continue, once again this year, to make Saint-Laurent Boulevard and Duluth and Mont-Royal Avenues a dynamic, welcoming and safe place for all.
