CHANGE IN TRAFFIC DIRECTION ON THE SAINT-LAURENT BOULEVARD

The Main is officially changing its traffic direction. The north/south axis of the city directed traffic exclusively towards the north from de la Commune street until de Castelnau, but it’s now a thing from the past!

The different government bodies decided it was time to listen to the people. “Quebecers like to go down south.” said Transport Minister in charge of the Montreal region, Robert Poëti. “We decided to listen to them and to change the traffic direction on the Saint-Laurent Boulevard.”

Talk about #PowerToThePeople!

A bit of history

It is not the first time that traffic on the Main changes direction. In 1967, in order to calm traffic, the boulevard became a one-way towards the north between the streets of Notre-Dame and Jean-Talon.
