After having visited 11 countries since 2001, the RedBall Project, from the New York artist Kurt Perschke, finally makes a stop in Montreal! RedBall Montreal will invade seven different locations over a period of seven days, exploring with insight and intelligence the unique qualities of Montreal architecture and urban space.
And how can you visit Montreal without making a stop on the Main?
Wednesday, September 3rd, it’s at Berson Monuments that you’ll be able to find the giant red ball. This tombstone business, established for nearly 100 years on the boulevard, is the perfect place to host works of street art which has had the greatest longevity in the world!
What is the RedBall Project?
This artistic experience awakens the collective imagination through sensory and visual experimentation. Using the opportunity of architectural, historical and cultural features of the city, RedBall Montreal crosses iconic, unlikely, busy and historic locations of Montreal to create a completely unique and unforgettable performance.
A word from the creator
« Through the RedBall Project I utilize my opportunity as an artist to be a catalyst for new encounters within the everyday. Through the magnetic, playful, and charismatic nature of the RedBall the work is able to access the imagination embedded in all of us. On the surface, the experience seems to be about the ball itself as an object, but the true power of the project is what it can create for those who experience it. […] That invitation to engage, to collectively imagine, is the true essence of the RedBall Project. The larger arc of the project is how each city responds to that invitation and, over time, what the developing story reveals about our individual and cultural imagination. » – Kurt Perschke.
