The Société de développement du boulevard Saint-Laurent promises a wide variety of activities for you to discover Hippozoonomadon, the new temporary installation on Guilbault Street East, supported by the Arrondissement Plateau-Mont-Royal and designed by Design par Judith Portier agency.
It’s an urban rest area like no other in Montreal. While you’ll be walking along the boulevard during the MURAL Festival (from June 4th to the 14th), take advantage to stop by – either to sunbathe or have a snack.
As of the beginning of July, we will offer several activities to incite you to come discover and enjoy the installation – this will also be the perfect occasion for your friends to discover it as well…or to impress someone on your first date!
PROGRAM
July 11th from 1pm to 2pm: Alex Renaud will entertain people at the Hippozoonomadon with his alternative-rock music (played acoustically)
August 1st at 2pm: the historian Bernard Vallée, already well known for his guided tours which he gives, amongst others, on the St-Laurent Boulevard together with Les Amis du boulevard, is preparing a historic conference of one and a half hours on the Jardin Guilbault, which could be found at this location in 1860…with of course several mentions of the boulevard at that time!
Visual material will be printed for the participants (because what better way to imagine elephants crossing a dirt road?), so we ask you to confirm your attendance by email at info@sdbsl.ca or by phone at 514-286-0334.
August 22nd from 1pm to 4pm: we are organizing an activity specifically for children (but that adults can enjoy too!)! As of 1pm, the day will start with an educational reptile show (which will for sure delight fans of Slytherin) and will end with a magic show starting at 3pm. From 1pm to 3pm, there will also be face painters and balloon sculptors to entertain you.
The activities will be postponed to the next day at the same time in case of rain.
September 5th at 2pm: we welcome the event “Tête de lecture”, presented by Les Escales improbables, in which the French actor and performer Yves Heck will animate Hippozoonomadon by bringing to life texts suggested by the public. Start gathering your requests!
Musicians will also animate the place on certain weekends with acoustic music, so stay tuned!
In case of rain, the activity will take place on Sunday from 6pm to 8pm.
To fully enjoy the installation, download the Zoocam application on iTunes and Google Play. For lack of real hippos walking around on the street, you can find virtual ones all over the installation!
