An izakaya is the Japanese equivalent of a French bistro and an English pub – we mostly go there to have a drink and to eat a hot or cold meal with friends, all in a relaxed atmosphere. Kabocha is one of the newcomers of its kind on the Saint-Laurent Boulevard (it is in fact the first Canadian branch of a chain of 7 izakaya in Japan). It serves a wide range of Japanese alcohol (which are served in the traditional way: the sake glasses are full to the rim and overflow into the dish) and the meal portions are more than generous.
